Rooms that feel expensive are often rooms that feel resolved. The furniture fits the architecture, the palette has somewhere to rest, and the eye understands what matters.
Scale before detail
One appropriately large lamp can do more than several small accessories. A rug that holds the furniture together is more convincing than a costly coffee table floating in the middle of the floor.
Leave something out
Empty space is not wasted space. It gives shape to the things you chose to keep. Before adding another object, try removing the least convincing one and live with the gap for a day.
The strongest rooms tend to spend their attention carefully.
