A room where every wood finish matches can feel less calm than expected. The repetition is orderly, but it can also make the furniture look as if it arrived as one set.
Choose a dominant family
Let one tone do most of the work, then bring in one lighter or darker counterpoint. You are not trying to match the color. Look instead for a shared undertone: warm, neutral or slightly red.
Repeat each tone once
A darker table feels less accidental when a frame or small object repeats that depth elsewhere. The repetition can be subtle. It is simply a way of showing that the variation was intentional.
Wood is a natural material. Some difference is part of what makes it convincing.
